Lieutenant Steven Floyd was killed Thursday, February 2, 2017.
Floyd, 47, was killed after inmates at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, Delaware, took him and three others hostage.
Lieutenant Floyd was with the Delaware Department of Correction for sixteen years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Saundra, as well as two children.
The other three hostages were rescued. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
