Maryland shootings: Three people shot at Westfield Montgomery Mall

Police Officers responded to the shooting around 11:30 a.m. at the Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda, Maryland.

The victims, two men and one woman were shot in a parking lot. All three are in critical condition, Montgomery County Police said.

"We have no reason to believe the victims knew the suspect," Montgomery County Assistant Chief Darryl McSwain said. "But we are certainly looking at all angles."

The female victim was shot first. The two men were shot after coming to the her aid, McSwain said.

Meanwhile, police are responding to another shooting at a Giant Food store in Aspen Hill. It is located five miles away. Police are trying to determine if there is a connection.

All three victims are in critical condition, they are being treated at Suburban Hospital. The hospital is on lock down. Also, Tilden Middle School and Walter Johnson High School were put on 'shelter in place' status while the shooting incident is under investigation.

The suspect is outstanding, according to Assistant Chief Darryl McSwain.
