A Muslim police officer has sued the NYPD to stop the enforcement of a ban on beards. Masood Syed, a law clerk for the department's Deputy Commissioner of Trials, stated the policy is unconstitutional. According to the class action suit, Syed was recently suspended for refusing to trim his beard, despite maintaining one throughout this 10-year career with the NYPD.
