Nine people were injured by a shooter in Houston, Texas, before he was shot and killed by police, authorities said.

According to police, the shooter was identified as Nathan DeSai, a "disgruntled lawyer."

The incident began around 6:30 a.m. Monday when the suspect randomly shot at drivers at a southwest Houston shopping center.

Numerous weapons were discovered at the crime scene. A bomb squad robot examined the suspect's vehicle and bomb squad officers also were looking at the suspect's home, said Police Chief Martha Montalvo.

Six people were hospitalized. One victim is in critical condition, another is listed in serious condition. Three others have received treatment and then released.

"The investigation is active. It's very, very early. We want to make sure there is no other gunman. We are checking every angle, I can assure you," said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
