- Officer Jose Chavez of the Hatch Police Department was killed in the line of duty on August 12, 2016. He graduated from the DoAna County Law Enforcement Academy in 2013 before joining the Hatch PD. Thousands of people from Albuquerque to Las Cruces honored his homecoming. Rest in peace, sir.
