    police officer to detective

    In our department there is no time limit. The detective bureau is a specific department. Usually Officers spend a few years on patrol duty though so they get a birds eye view of what the detectives do.

    It dosen't hurt but it should not be a requirement. Being a police officer requires dedication. Going to college shows dedication to stick with a difficult task but it doesn't really add to your ability to be in Law Enforcement.

    Helping people is awesome. When someone thanks you for doing what your job requires feels great.

    Would you do it again?

    Yes, I love my job. I think there are few other jobs that can command the respect that being a police officer can. I wanted to be in Law Enforcement for as long as I can remember.
