What do you know now that you didn't know before you became a police officer?

I just finished the academy. I had never used a gun before going to the academy. During our training we only had a couple of days of shot gun training. Because we had over 60 people in our class so there wasn't enough time for each person. I am not real positive how the 4 steps of shot gun...

Is it just me, but why are the laws so inconsistent across the states with motorcycles as opposed to cars? Some states don't require helmets. Some states allow lane splitting. Why?
