Police Officer Justin Terney

Police Officer Justin Terney died Monday, March 27, 2017 after a shootout with a man trying to escape a traffic stop in central Oklahoma.

He suffered severe gunshot wounds and was immediately taken to intensive care at OU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

"Officer Justin Terney died Monday morning after undergoing surgery overnight, said Tecumseh Assistant Police Chief J.R. Kidney."

Officer Terney graduated from the police academy last summer. He was with the Tecumseh Police Department for one year, and was also a volunteer firefighter.
