I'd rather be deaf as well. Blindness removes much more of your capabilities and freedom. Also there has been much more success in restoring hearing than restoring sight.
I have thanked them for helping me, but I have not went out of my way to thank a police officer as he is passing by. I think it might be good to do so, you might just make his day!
If I'm not wrong it's just terminating the brand, they'll be renaming it as Spartan? IE has actually been improving recently, hopefully Spartan will be on par with Firefox and Chrome in terms of performance and security.
I'd think police officers would be much more inclined to protect their own. They wouldn't call each other out over minor infractions such as littering or jaywalking. DUI though is a pretty major offence and I think different officers might handle it differently.
I read this article as well and it is purely sickening. In my opinion it is nothing short of an excuse to shirk personal responsibility, she should receive additional charges for fleeing the scene of the crime.
I doubt that there are official quotas that are imposed. However police officers who never gave out tickets would appear to be skiving on the job, there is an innate incentive for them to give out more tickets to prove themselves to their superiors.
It's a really sensitive topic, and I agree that the best way to bring a close to all these events that have occurred is for the management to step down.
I'm pretty disappointed, this is not a particularly humane way of ending a life. I would imagine the process to be fairly painful and slow as the person has to bleed to death. I stand by lethal injection as the most suitable option.
I'd say it's his fault, but without any eyewitnesses this would be difficult to prove. It is for this reason that I installed a dashcam on my car, and I recommend people do the same. It helps with insurance and general security/peace of mind.

This is really tragic. My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Were the officers unarmed? It surprises me that some police officers seem to have too much trigger discipline while others fire at the slightest notion of a threat. I think use of firepower would have been justified in such a scenario.
As much as I think it is an almost impossible dream, if we do not try for it world peace will never happen. We cannot give up on such an ideal, especially during such a time where terrorism and small-scale wars are breaking out in many places on Earth.
The punishment needs to be severe, police need to be held to higher standards than the public since they are the ones enforcing the law. Any attempt on their part to subvert it should be doubly punished.
I think it would probably be safer to let it slide unless it was something really expensive, and there was obvious deliberate intent on the part of the officer. Otherwise the trouble of seeking renumeration would often outweigh the costs.
