Do you have to answer the door to police?

If you're genuinely busy just let them know, and ask for the purpose of their visit. If it's nothing serious they will typically wait or find another time/person. For all you know something might have happened to your closed ones if the police are at your door. If you have done nothing wrong you...

    Busting Kids Via Yik Yak?

Those kids are silly if they think that the app is truly anonymous. If they are doing anything illegal and it can be seen from the app, I think the police should arrest them by all means.

How Should One Deal With Threats On Social Media?

If the threat is serious enough (intent of violence or damage to property) I believe that you can contact the police to intervene. It's still a grey area that's just emerging but we will probably see more laws and cases on online harrassment unfold over the next few years.

    Do you enjoy watching anime?

I've watched some anime, I don't really see the big deal for or against it, it's just another form of entertainment to me. I've watched Naruto before, but it wasn't really my thing. I'm a fan of less "childish" series like Ghost in The Shell, and the older Gundam series. Gundam SEED was the best...

    Cell Phone Related Tickets

It's a very valid risk to both the driver and other road users, hence I think that such a law should be enforced more strictly. To be honest there needs to be better handsfree technologies for people who wish to talk to other people while driving. Texting should not be okay under any...

    Canadian Police Foil Shooting Plot

It's great to see some news of a shooting being foiled, in light of the many recent shootings which unfortunately weren't prevented in time. As said it's really shocking that this would be in Canada of all places, it's generally regarded as a pretty safe and peaceful country as far as I know.

    Police Overtime

It might not be overtime, but just part of their shift. Police officers have to on standby 24/7 after all.

    Gangs and Their Colors

Get him to tighten up security at the bar, by talking to local police, or asking his boss for more protection. Installing CCTV would be a great way to deter such gangs from doing as they please since their actions would all be recorded for police scrutiny.

    Why do cops go rogue?

I believe stress and depression are probably two of the biggest factors. Having to constantly put your life at risk, and witnessing violent crimes or injustice being meted out by colleagues and criminals alike can take its toll on one's psyche.

Why are police allowed to take their weapons home?

Personally I don't see it to be a big deal, both the badge and the gun are essential to the police officer to perform his job, should an emergency lead to him needing to make an off-duty arrest. Also, just as all citizens have to right to arm themselves for self-defense I feel that off-duty...

    Mark Twain grave plaque

I think that people who steal such items do so because of the prestige and uniqueness of the item. Overly rich people will waste their money on anything, there is a thriving underground economy for such goods, just like stolen paintings. Glad to see that it has been recovered.

What are a few things that disqualify you from being a police officer?

I'm certain a criminal record would bar you from entering many professions, including the police force. Other factors which I could think of would be health issues (while there are overweight cops usually police recruits are in the healthy weight range) and psychiatric issues.

    Waze and the Police

Sadly I think that Google will probably comply in the face of legal action, than risk money in a lawsuit even if the odds are against the police union.

What To Do With Kids Who Commit Crimes?

I think intense counselling and talks with both the child and parents is necessary for children below 15. Above that, I think that they should have a fair grasp of right and wrong, and the current state correctional facilities would serve them well.

Police officer keeps job despite spitting on teenager

At any rate even if he was aggravated I don't think that the police officer should have spat at anyone. He probably won't see himself climbing up the ranks of the force anytime soon.

    Boring days

I would imagine that sheriffs in laid back, more close-knit towns have a pretty relaxed job.

Can Retired Officers Enforce The Law?

He could perform a citizen's arrest, but he has no more power than any of us. However I suppose he could call any of his friends who are still in active service to make the arrest.

Automakers Invented the Crime of Jaywalking

That's a pretty interesting read. I think that with the advent of automobiles some rules had to be made to enforce public safety on roads. While it certainly is possible that automakers invented them I think we can agree that jaywalking can be dangerous to both drivers and pedestrians on crowded...

    Do you fear bloodborne pathogens?

I believe this is why Hepatitis vaccinations are the norm for most people, not just police officers. Anti-vaccine groups need to seriously take a look at the evidence against them, and the threat that their actions are posing to the general public.

    Ferguson police testing 'less lethal' gun attachment;

Isn't that a rubber bullet? There are plenty of non-lethal alternative spanning a range of needs from pepper spray to tasers. I would love to hear what makes this new attachment so special.
