    Police cooperation in other countries

I am very scared about how their is a lack of police cooperation when I go out of town. There are crimes committed overseas all of the time and it is so hard to trust authority when not much gets done. I try to cooperate, but some laws just scare me.

Are police shows like "Cops" authentic?

I really don't think that Cops is real. Most of the show looks scripted and some of the cops just don't look professional. It is entertaining though and I still watch it, but I watch it and take it with a grain of salt.

    Hello Everyone!

Hi Alex! How are things up in Canada? I am from Los Angeles. Welcome to the forum and great avatar pic! I need to remind myself to not panic all of the time!

    Dougnuts?

Does anyone know where the whole cop and doughnut stereotype began? I am just really curious if anyone knows why it is so "offensive" too. I like the posted pic. I got a good laugh out of it.

Cop Says He Saw a Ghostly Soul Collector

It is possible that so much adrenaline was pumping through his body that he started to see things. I have panic attacks and when I have tons of adrenaline in me when I get worked up, I notice that I see things out of the corner of my eye. Where did you find this information from?

Why do people hate the police?

I think it has a lot to do with the way that they were raised. I grew up in a house where my parents respected the police and taught me to be respectful to authority. I know a lot of people my age who grew up in homes that feared the police and that fear turned to hate.

The last time you had any interaction with a police officer?

I just had one two days ago. I was driving with my mom and 3 kids threw a rock at our car. It shattered the glass in our rear window and we were trying to file a report with insurance. So frustrating, but I was glad that the police took the time to make sure this didn't happen to anyone else...

Funniest things you have heard a Police Officer Say

These are so funny! I love the one about a warning. People are always thinking that they can get off with a warning. The law was the first warning people! You knew you were breaking the law!

    Mugshots

Mugshots do make you look guilty and the worst is when you google your name and you get a mugshot. How do people get a job after their mugshot is made public? It just makes things harder for people who want to make a positive change.

    Problems from legalizing marijuana

I think the scariest thing for me is people driving while under the influence. You can't really take a THC test and if they have low levels of THC is means they are more baked then if they just hit it. How do we keep our roads safe?

    What is citizen's arrest?

I do not want to attempt to perform a citizens arrest because you can get harmed in the process and you might get sued as well. I would just report it and then leave it up to the police to handle.

    Text harassment

What you might want to do is call your cell phone carrier and have them block this number. This will prevent them from contacting you. If they try to contact you again the you can block that number as well. I am sure that this is what the police will tell you to do in the event that you go down...

    Who designs police uniforms?

I don't know who designs them, but I wish there was a uniform code for all of them. What scares me is when people dress up like the police to do bad things. If there was a uniform that all officers wore then this might be less likely done.

    Calls 911 for a Date

What a loser and a creep! I am glad that the dispatcher got someone to go over to his house and arrest him. He was harassing her and abusing the system. I hate to think that he is tying up the line for a date when people had real emergencies.

Free food and drinks, as well as other perks?

When in Los Angeles, New York City or in Boston I always see cops get free food and free perks. It is a way that a merchant says thank you for their services. I do believe that it is a way to show appreciation and gratitude. I don't think it is "wrong" because the vendor decides who to give...

    Road Rage

People just need to stop and take a breather before reacting. We're all trying to get somewhere! I don't know why people get so much road rage. We are acting like animals now!

The division between police and citizens

I totally understand what you are saying. I remember growing up and getting excited to see cop cars in my neighborhood. My friends and I would wave to them and we would chat it up with them. Now there is this fear that hits me when I see a police car. I don't like that feeling.

Denver police chief wants to equip 800 officers with body cameras

I think the cameras would be a great help, but you will get people saying that it is an invasion of privacy. What about faulty cameras are footage that is "lost" this might make a police officer look suspicious in trial.

    Street Racing

There are a lot of street races here and the kids like to race on the main road. I know that they are having check points on this street to deter racing there, but the kids just moved to the alleys. I think they give big tickets to the drivers and break up the crowds to check if they are drinking.

Why do the police ask, "Do you know why I pulled you over?"

I have been pulled over about 3 times and have never had an officer ask me this. They usually just greet and then let me know why they pulled us over. It seems that I only see this question on Cops and other TV shows. I don't think it is protocol.
