    Boredom

I do Middle Earth role play on Twitter. There are always new people to meet, new additions to the fandom. It's a lot of fun.

    Police Friends

I don't think that is the case. When you are off duty you are off duty and free to enjoy all the social activities other people enjoy. The only people who would feel nervous around you probably wouldn't be good friends anyway.

    Police Officer Profiling

I think affirmative action has backfired in this case. I know ornament of people who feel that it is much easier for minority people to get into the police force and incredibly hard for white men. This unfortunately means one will automatically assume the white male officer had to achieve a...

    Mugshots

I think there is a perception that the person must be guilty if they got arrested. The media sure presents it that way even though sometimes not everyone arrested in a complicated case is guilty of a crime.

Missouri 9-month-old fatally shot in his crib by 5-year-old brother, police say

This is so sad. I doubt if the five year old had a very good understanding of what he was handling. At five some children won't fully comprehend anyway even if they are told not to touch guns. Parents need to lock their guns where children can't access them to prevent a situation like this where...

Dashcam video shows man's fatal encounter with Bridgeton police

That is tragic, but since it is caught on the camara there is at least a greater chance of justice in this case.

    Police Officer Funeral

I believe the police force takes care this. It isn't something the family would be able to afford, or be expected to pay for.

If you steal an item and later return it..

If I was the store owner I would forgive. It takes a lot of courage to come forward and make things right when you have done something like that. I think you found prosecute if you wanted to, but I do not think that is what Jesus would do. Showing mercy to someone can change their life forever...

Do you believe in movie kind of love?

Yes and no. I believe that these feelings are experienced at some point in many people's lives, but that they are feelings, and they will not remain constant like that for long durations. They may be part of what I believe to be true love, which is an absolute commitment to one's spouse for...

    Speed limit

I suspect this varies from place to place, perhaps even county to county within states unless there is a written traffic law. When I was in Portland the general flow of traffic was always 60 or more on the freeway, even though it says 55. The "fast lane" meaning the left lane, was basically...

What are your favorite cop/criminal shows?

I used to watch Bones. I liked the science and mystery aspect of it most. I don't know how realistic it is as far as actual detective work and crime lab work though.

    Pulled Over

They probably do most of the time. I've noticed there is a definite brotherhood mindset in the police department, so although they might pull over an off duty cop if they didn't know their personal vehicle, it would not surprise me at all if they don't get tickets, or rarely do.

    Police Driving

THat sounds very unethical. If they are responding to an emergency situation, then of course time is more important than the traffic light if it is safe to go through the intersection at that time, but to do it just to do it sounds very power trip like.

What are you allowed to keep?

I don't think police are allowed to keep things for themselves. That would be totally wrong I think, like stealing someone's possessions. They keep evidence for use in court, but I think those items, if not illegal, would be returned once the trial is over in most cases. I know cops do dip...

How to behave at traffic stops in the US?

Just be calm and polite, keep your hands on the wheel until they ask you to show them your ID. That way there is no question in the officer's mind that you are fully cooperating and not making any threatening moves. I would say tell the officer where your ID is located (ie it's in my wallet in...

    Pepper Spray and Tasers

No experience, but I personally am more in favor of the use of pepper spray than of tasers. Pepper spray will not seriously injure someone, where as tasers have the potential to trigger serious medical issues if a person has a medical condition, which they may or may not be aware of. While I...

What can I do to be safe while running or walking outside?

Stay on main roads, well lit and well traveled areas. That way there will be others around, even if you do not have a running buddy. Have your phone with you and carry it in a pocket that is very easy to access quickly. Be alert and if you see someone that makes you feel even a little nervous...

Do you think schools should have armed guards at their entrances?

No, I really think that sends the wrong message, promotes a culture of fear and distrust. I understand the concerns people have about school safety, but I don't think that's the answer. Even if they had them, whose to say someone wouldn't slip a weapon past the guards.

Should police be allowed to get overweight?

Hmm, that's a tough one. Because of the nature of the job, I do not think an officer should be allowed to continue in it if they are obese, as that would certainly compromise their ability to do the job properly should they encounter a situation where they need to move quickly. I would not want...

    Natural Means to Relieve Stress

Exercise is good for getting the endorphines going, which reduces stress as well as helps you stay fit. On the other side there are relaxation techniques ones can use before going to sleep, or at various times during the day to help combat stress. One I like for helping get to sleep is to...
