Are People More Callous These Days?

I do think that people's perspectives of how to look at crime has changed. We live in a reality TV culture and social media allows us to think that we're part of it all. It's scary that people would rather film than intervene. I think this was almost like the film 'Showtime' with Eddie Murphy...

    Craigslist baby snatch

I wouldn't blame Craigslist itself. It's simply a listings provider and attracts all sorts of people. Unfortunately there are enough crazy people out there, and this story clearly shows that determined people will do determined things regardless of the environment.

    Less police officers???

I'm guessing that the high regard that police used to have has disappeared for many people. The issues that we've seen on TV can only have been a negative. Hopefully it won't put off too many that want to work in the system.

    Sports stars that you hate

As a British person, I am increasingly disliking a lot of our premier league football (soccer) players. There is such a lot of posturing, misbehaviour, stupidity and arrogance that I don't have a lot of respect for a lot of them. Too much money in the hands of silly young men.

Will there ever be world peace?

In a word, "no". Even if everyone looked exactly the same and smelled the same, people would still find reason to differentiate themselves. And people would still covet what others had, whether that's land, resources or opportunities. It's human nature.

what would you change about your past?

There are probably a few things that could have been better, but I don't really want to think about changing anything from my past as I would be a different person to who I am now. And for all my faults, insecurities and neurotic moments, I quite like me! What I would change (and it's something...

    College Drinking

This has been an issue since the dawn of time (or at least since alcohol and college co-existed). There is certainly more that can be done to make sure things aren't made worse for other college goers, and that people's health isn't permanently put at risk. But fundamentally it is still a part...

    Will you go to Mars?

I'm sure that it would be the most amazing opportunity ever. But I still think that there's plenty of living for me on earth first! Although you would be a trailblazer, you would certainly not be coming back and that's what you would have to accept if you signed up for such a trip at the moment.

Do you think there should be capital punishment for terrorists?

That's another reason for not allowing them to die. You don't want to encourage martyrdom. It's been sold to many extremists as a reason for committing atrocities. It's about starving them of their reason of being.

Do you think there should be capital punishment for terrorists?

That is very true. It's far more nuanced than I explained. I guess I was thinking/grouping more in terms of people committing Jihadist terrorist acts, killing innocent people. But that again is the prism I'm viewing the world through, and my view of "innocent". One man's terrorist is another...

    Video: The Dangers of Policing

It's definitely important to remember and recognize the important role that police play. At the same time we can't be blinkered towards the few bad apples that give the police a bad name and lead to situations like Ferguson. But give praise where praise is due. And criticize where criticism is...

Police gathered at a private house for the Superbowl while on duty

I don't think it's right at all to be doing that. It's like they're on a long lunch break. They're not paid for that. I don't think many jobs would allow that kind of behavior.

St Louis Police Turn Off Dashcam While They Beat Up Suspect

If they did turn the dashcam off then this is very premeditated. These type of stories really turn people against the police. It's disgraceful behavior and I hope the right people are brought to justice.

Video: Family, friends remember deputy killed during burglary call

That's really a sad story. Dying in the line of duty is something you never want to hear about. I hope his family can find peace all this time after.

Toddler Killed By Family Dog, Police Say

That's a tragic tale. I do have my issue with pitbulls though. They don't have a great temperament and this isn't the first and won't be the last story with these dogs. I just hope that the law tightens up ownership and training rules for those dogs.

    Chicago secret interrogation facility

We shouldn't really be surprised, though it is extremely disconcerting. To assume that every police force plays by the book would be naive. Their argument would be that they need to do it because of the extent of criminality they are dealing with. But such lawlessness is unacceptable when the...

Why Psychos Should Never Be Released From Jail

There are times when I think that people should be locked up and the key should be chucked away. And when you hear stories like the one that is highlighted I just have to wonder. It just sounds like this individual didn't get the right help, or didn't accept the right help, when he was in prison.

Do you think there should be capital punishment for terrorists?

My view on this changes with the seasons. I'm not a fan of "an eye for an eye" in principle. It's just not the way I grew up seeing the world. But you do hear about so many horrible and hideous atrocities that it's not hard to find yourself shaped by different thinking. What about you? How do...

Police Can Legally Seize All Your Possessions

I'm guessing that if there is enough evidence to back the approach, then they'll be able to do so. But whatever they do would still have to be without the limits of the law. It's not as if they can suddenly turn up one day and decide to do it.

    Interested in becoming a cop?

I don't think that I've ever considered being a policeman. Even when I was a child, it was never on my radar. That said, I did once want to be a police profiler - someone that would put together the identity profile of someone that has committed a crime. I like the psychology behind fighting...
