How to behave at traffic stops in the US?

I think that the best thing you can do is cooperate. It's just one of those things that you want over as fast as possible. If I ever got stopped I would just answer all the questions asked, and present the information asked for because I just want to go on about my business.

What is your line of work?

I'm a freelance music journalist and blogger. I know, those things have nothing to do with police in any way (besides the police that shut down a lot of the shows that I go to) but I was always generally interested in police work, other people's interactions with law enforcement, and just...

    Have you ever stolen anything?

I remember when I use to be a kid I would always nab a little bit of candy from those WoolWorth stores. They use to have them all out in the open, and you couldn't put a security device on a piece of candy.

What are your favorite cop/criminal shows?

I've always liked Cold Case and NCIS. My mom would be watching those shows from time and I would have to stop and watch sometimes because the stories were so intriguing. Person of Interest is also a interesting show too.

    Pulled Over

I'm pretty sure that cops let other cops go if they happen to pull one over. The only way that I can see them making a fuss about it is if the two cops aren't exactly on good terms. I wouldn't be mad at them either. Why would you want to stress out another cops who protects the city just like...

Have you ever called in a tip?

I never have personally, but I have a friend who called a hotline about a gun that he found in a garbage can one day (which he left there, of course). Turns out the gun was a key piece of evidence in a murder case and my friend was rewarded $200 dollars.

    Rainy Conditions

I've never heard anything like this, but I must say that it makes complete sense. People are more prone to get in accidents when the weather is bad over when the weather is good. If the weather isn't up to par then you shouldn't be driving as if it's a beautiful sunny day outside.

When working out what do you think of?

When I'm working out I think of the body that I want to have. It's what keeps me going and it helps me keep my eyes on my goal. I also think about pushing myself, and feeling the weight leave my body.

Do you get promoted if you give out tickets?

I think promotions are giving for outstanding service and making an overall difference, but giving the politics in most jobs I could be wrong. Maybe they just need a certain amount of arrests and tickets before they get a promotion. That would make the most sense, it would give everyone...

Are police shows like "Cops" authentic?

I think that those shows were "real" at one point, but for the most part they are/must be overly scripted at this point like a of "reality television" these days. I don't think that any cop in there right mind would walk around putting a camera crew in danger the way that it is depicted on cops...

Do officers switch to new precincts very often?

I would be surprised if this didn't happen all the time. Not switch as far as different states, but I think that there are definitely trades within different precincts with the same city. There just has to be.

    Police Driving

I know for a fact that they are not always going to an emergency. I seen many ambulance trucks do this way back in the day when they wanted to get to Wendy's in a hurry. I'm not saying that there aren't emergencies here and there, but they aren't exactly ALWAYS going to one.

    Hello!

Hey! It's nice to meet you! It's always nice to meet someone who is curious/interested in law enforcement as much as the rest of us. You'll fit right in here. See you on the forums!

    5 positive posts a day

I think that that would be a great idea. It would be a nice change of pace from all the things that are usually seen and expected from a forum like this. I would love to see a couple of positive posts a day, let alone five.

In any circumstance can you defend yourself against police brutality?

This is a really good question. I believe that there should be a limit to the things you can take from a cop physically before you have a right to defend yourself. Most law enforcement officials would tell you that you shouldn't resist it anyway, but sometimes resisting is necessary

    Disgusted with the News

I've stopped watching the news a long time ago and I truly am better for it. I might take a peak if I need to know the weather in a crunch but that's about it. I feel as though the news has this agenda to make you as scared as possible. I mean, I know there a lot of bad things going on in the...

Do You Think Gun Cams Should Be Mandated?

I've heard of cameras getting installed on the police officer's uniforms but I've never heard of gun cams. I actually think that gun cams would be a really good idea. There would be no doubt about certain shootings if we see exactly where the gun was pointed.

What do you consider excessive force?

Excessive force would be anything more than is needed to handle a person or people. When an officer (or anyone for the matter) is using excessive force, they risk injuring someone or even killing them. It would definitely depend on the situation, but for the most part excessive force is anything...

    Has anyone been shot?

I've never been shot, but I once saw someone get shot in broad daylight. I was about 14 or 15 when I was walking home from the store. The apartment building that I use to live in had two gates to go into. Well, I was in the first gate when I looked back for some reason and I saw some kid (he...
