    What should I do?

Go military. You might end up making a career out of it instead. With your degree too, you should be able to become an officer fairly quickly. That is a big deal and you get a lot of contacts which could become beneficial to finding you a great place to work post-services.

What shifts do you guys prefer to work?

I enjoy second shift the most, personally. 1530 to 2330 is what I do now and I really enjoy it a lot. :) Mornings are okay but its hard to get up. Third shift is horrible because around 0400 hours, everyone is ready to go to sleep I think.

Why do you think people disrespect police officers?

People disrespect law enforcement officials because they think cops are just out to get them. People don't realize that police officers don't make the law, they enforce the law, if you don't like the law, don't blame the cop, blame the lawmakers and write to your elected officials.

Is there a no chasing law?

The bad thing about license plates is temp tags. You can get a temp tag practically anywhere or steal one and use it. Some who get away from the police actually get away for good. But never fear, criminals are not all that intelligent - they usually get caught eventually.

Do you resent civilians approaching you to ask questions?

I agree especially for a 12 year old. Too many parents use the cops as a scare tactic to their children. "Behave or I will call the police and they will lock you up" etc. etc. This is not a good parenting tactic because all its doing is making kids afraid of police officers. Police are here to...

    Is it what you expected?

Policework is the type of occupation where you have to enjoy that sort of activity. If you enjoy dealing with the public, doing something different every day and really being a big part of the community - then policework might be for you. But you also have to be stable and able to control your...

    What law would you change?

I think I would change the bicycle space law. If you violate the 3-feet space for road bicycles due to negligence like texting and driving, not paying attention or general stupidity - you lose your license and be required to take the driving AND written test all over again.

Are there any laws that prevent me from drinking alcohol on the street?

Depending on where you are, public intoxication is a crime and you can be cited and even detained and arrested for doing it. Open container laws are also the norm for those who have open alcoholic beverages in their vehicles. If your keys are in the ignition, some places can charge you with a...

    Road Rage

I disagree. I carry a concealed firearm and I never have the urge to use it. In fact, your statement is opinionated and nothing more. Some people don't need guns, I will agree with that - the OP gave a great example of those types of people. I hope I never I have to use my firearm but I feel...

Are cops hard on their kids?

My dad was a correctional officer and he basically spoiled me to a point. My mom was nothing to do with LE and if I even rolled my eyes at her, I got paddled or switched. I think it depends on the parent, how much control they decide to have over you and what life they require you to live.

can I call the police anonymously?

Of course you can. Burner phones cannot be traced all that well. Most cell phone 911 hangups just give a general area where the phone was located during the time of the call. You don't have to give your name, you just say what you need to say and hang up.

When a robber enters your home..

Castle Doctrine is a protected right in most states but the laws on it vary. I suggest you check out this link: Castle doctrine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia However, if a home intruder does illegally enter your home and you cannot flee to safety - I'd recommend shooting to kill. If they...

Is there a no chasing law?

There are some laws where officers will cease the chase due to safety reasons, especially in crowded areas like Atlanta. Its better to track the perp by air or get them later on than it is to chase through a crowded city endangering the lives of others. A lot of bikes will get away from the...

    Arming security guards in Kenya.

I have many years of private security experience with some armed and doing the functions of "private police" type work. I am for armed security as long as it is needed but there really needs to be a good background screening as I have met a lot of security officers that I would not want to see...

    Buying beer

Alcohol is a bigger killer than most drugs. People die from short-term and long-term use, people die over overusing it and people die from not using, just being victims to others using it. I once got ran over (I was walking) by a drunk driver. I made it out okay but I had to run for my life to...

What is the maximum penalty for jaywalking ?

Jaywalking citations in the USA are usually very low in cost. People don't like them and they complain but some countries in Asia won't ticket you, instead they will cane you for doing it. Imagine getting 3 strokes with a cane on your bare bottom from a guy swinging it like a baseball bat?! No...

Why do cops tailgate speeding drivers to "provoke" them to speed more?

Ticket Quotas^ It is a big topic over in my parts. They are trying to outlaw them altogether and most local departments agree with it. I don't think ticket quotas are good for community policing. It basically tells the community that the police need to meet a certain number of tickets and that...

Boyfriend in Mexico made his girlfriend wear a chastity lock on her pants

If a couple gets into that, like its their fetish, then fine as long as they both agree to it. However to be forced into that... its sick and there needs to be a stop put to it. The family of the victim needs to step in and so does local law enforcement.

    What's wrong with people

Being a cop is a tough job. You have to remain professional and always focus on the justice system doing the hard work for you even if you just arrest a person accused of killing or abusing a child. Then you have to face injury or death when arresting and/or detaining someone who doesn't want to...
