In this case, we are not told the races of the principal players. Could it be because the shooter was black, and the cop was white? Does it matter? No, imo, it does not. However, it would seem to be of importance if the situation was vice versa.

That really is an interesting point. Of course, color really shouldn't be of importance but the media are always quick to report any blacks shot by white police. I wonder why they have changed tack for this particular report?

That's what they normally do. Sensationalize. This is a race issue! But would we expect unbiased reporting of news? Certainly not. When it serves their purposes they'll point out the race of individuals involved. When it doesn't they'll leave out the details. Same with the UK news sites. If a criminal happens to be a Muslim then not even the name of the suspect will be mentioned. The hypocrisy of it all . . .
