Ariel Castro has been sentenced to life without parole

CLEVELAND. Ariel Castro, 53, convicted of holding three women captive in his house for over a decade and raping them repeatedly has been sentenced to life without parole, plus 1,000 years.
Ariel Castro had pleaded guilty to 937 counts including aggravated murder, kidnapping, rape and assault.
When he addressed the court Castro apologized to the victims and also said that he is addicted to pornography and stated that most of the sex with the women was consensual.
“These people are trying to paint me as a monster,†Castro said. “I’m not a monster. I’m sick.â€
Before he was sentenced, Michelle Knight, one of the victims spoke.
"You took 11 years of my life away and I have got it back," "I spent 11 years in hell. Now your hell is just beginning."
Judge Michael Russo told Castro that there was no place in the world for people who enslave others. "These women never gave up hope," Russo said. "In fact, they prevailed."
