Clinton Greenwood, an assistant chief deputy constable for Harris County Precinct 3, was shot and killed
behind the courthouse in Baytown where he worked. He was airlifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The shooter remains at large.
Authorities believe that attack was a hit. "It's a hit, no doubt," said a federal official who is assisting with the investigation. "He basically got ambushed."
Assistant Chief Deputy Greenwood, 57, had been in law enforcement for nearly thirty years, also working in the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
He is survived by his wife, two children, and two step children.
