Officials say the Baltimore Police Department have terminated its primary plainclothes
enforcement unit, which will put forty-six police officers on patrol.
This move comes after seven officers of the department's Gun Trace Task Force were indicted on
federal racketeering charges. The officers are accused of robbing and extorting citizens. In
addition, filing false police reports and getting fraudulent overtime pay. Officials also said one of
the seven police officers was also charged in an alleged drug conspiracy.
