Los Angeles-Joel Solis Aguirre, 24, was convicted Wednesday of a 10-year-old girl as she slept during a residential burglary in Buena Park, prosecutors said.
In June 2010 Aguirre broke into a home and was searching for property to steal when he noticed the girl asleep upstairs, prosecutors said.
When the girl started to cry, Aguirre ran off, leaving his fingerprints, prosecutors said.
A few days later, he broke into another home and stole wallets, purses and cell phones. A day later, he committed another burglary, prosecutors said in a written statement. When he tried to break into a fourth home, a resident called police and the suspect was found hiding in some bushes.
Aguirre is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison and mandatory lifetime registration as a sex offender at his sentencing in November.
