I am applying with a local police department in Ohio. On the personal history statement, there is a question that asks if I've ever distributed, given away, or sold legally confidential information. At my job I have access to a third party information database with public and non public sources of information. I was told by my boss that information from this database was confidential and employees could be subject to termination or penalties for using this information for a non related work purpose. To help my mom settle my aunts estate, I looked up some information on a family member on this database and disclosed it to my mother. If I disclose this act on my PHS, would the background investigator disclose this admission to my employer?
