The Georgia Department of Corrections stated they are mourning two of their officers after two inmates shot and killed them Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Correctional Officer Christopher Monica, 42, and Correctional Officer Curtis Billue, 58, were on a prison transport bus when the horrific tragedy happened. Authorities said the two inmates got through the security gate, overpowered and shot them both. They remain at large. Christopher Monica began his career with Department of Corrections in October 2009. Sgt. Monica leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
