Corrections Officer Kenneth Bettis

Atmore, Alabama...The Alabama corrections officer at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility who was stabbed by an inmate on September 1st, 2016 died from his injuries on September 16.

44-year-old officer Kenneth Bettis was taken to University of South Alabama Hospital where he remained until succumbing to the stab wounds.

Kenneth Bettis is survived by his wife and three children.

"Officer Bettis was a dedicated civil servant taking on the difficult role of corrections officer. I want to thank Officer Bettis and his family for his years of service to the people of Alabama," said Gov. Robert Bentley.
