A Delaware man who confessed to robbing a pizzeria has recently filed a lawsuit against the company after he says the restaurant’s employees assaulted him and caused him unnecessary injury.
Nigel Sykes, 23, admitted to police that he was armed when he forced his way into the building through the back door on November 20, 2010. Sykes has filed the complaint without an attorney, he feels that he deserves $260,000.
After he made his way inside, he stated a delivery driver handed him $140. He claims he was leaving the premises when an employee took his gun away and wrestled him down to the ground.
He says that he was “subdued†by the employees at Seasons Pizza and that all of them “participated in punching, kicking and pouring hot soup†over his body.
A bullet was discharged from Sykes firearm during the incident, narrowly missing a worker.
"That is when the assault began," stated in Sykes' suit. "All of the Season's Pizza employees participated in punching, kicking and pouring hot soup over my body. I was unarmed and defenseless and had to suffer a brutal beating by all of the employees of Seasons Pizza."
Sykes claims he was knocked unconscious after the employees assaulted him with pots and pans.
Sykes is also suing Newport Police. He claims the police handcuffed and then tasered him. He says that he needed medical attention for the burns and stun gun wounds, but was denied treatment. He also claims one officer used a racial slur toward him.
Seasons pizzeria declined comment. Newport Police Chief Michael Capriglione said, "It is a joke lawsuit." "It is sad to see this kind of suit being looked at. The court shouldn't waste the taxpayers' money," Capriglione said.
Attorneys for the two officers filed a response to the suit, they are seeking to have it thrown out on statute of limitations grounds.
Sykes is asking for $20,000 each from six pizzeria employees and two officers and $100,000 from the pizzeria.
He is currently serving a 15-year sentence after pleading guilty to five charges.

This is an idle man who wants to waste everyone’s time. He is the one who trespassed and stole from this pizza place. Besides he had a gun meaning he threatened the employees at the place. He is also suing the Police? Amazing! The things people do on this God’s earth. Let us wait for the verdict.
