A Louisiana sheriffs deputy and daughter were killed in double murder-suicide.

West Baton Rouge Sheriffs Deputy Donna Leblanc and her daughter Carli Jo, were both killed at their home on Tuesday, September, 27, 2016.

Police say an "estranged" neighbor Gregory Phillips approached Deputy Leblanc. After an argument, a gunfight erupted between Deputy Leblanc and Phillips.

Phillips shot and killed Deputy Leblanc, and then murdered the deputy's 21-year-old daughter, before killing himself.

"Leblanc was able to get three rounds off of her pistol and there were multiple rounds shot by Mr. Phillips," said Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Bud Torres.

Sheriff Torres stated that the family, including many of their other neighbors, allegedly had a strained relationship with Phillips.

"She was a veteran officer," Torres said, "She was one of the first female deputies to work in West Baton Rouge Parish on the road. She was, in my opinion, an outstanding officer and a great human being."

Deputy Donna Leblanc had been with the sheriff's office for 22 years.
