Sheriff's Deputy Jack Hopkins passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

He was fatally shot while responding to a disturbance call.

Deputy Jack Hopkins, 31, was with the Modoc County Sheriff's Office for one year, and before that he was with the Alturas Police Department.

The suspect was taken into custody.
