Deputy Sheriff Mason Moore was shot and killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
Authorities say Moore was conducting a traffic stop around 3 a.m. when dispatchers lost contact with him. When police responded they discovered Deputy Moore dead.
The two suspects are father and son, Lloyd Barrus, 61, Marshall Barrus, 38. They were later arrested after a car pursuit and an exchange of gunfire with police officers.
38-year-old Mason Moore had been in law enforcement for a total of 15 years, the last three year with the Broadwater County sheriff's office.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
