A good samaritan, Jonathan Murphy, was shot dead by one of the suspects, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened after the two suspects had just robbed a jewelry store inside Rolling Oaks mall. They were running off when they were stopped by two bystanders.

When they tried to intervene, Murphy, 42, was shot dead by one of the suspects. The other person, pulled out his gun and shot one of the robbers, leaving him in critical condition.

“What we have here is a robbery gone really, really bad,” sad Police Chief William McManus, adding that the shooting was “absolutely senseless.”

Police have the wounded robber in custody. They are still searching for the second suspect.
