Gunman Shoots and Kills One Trooper In Police Barracks - Pennsylvania

On Friday night, a gunman or gunmen [it's not clear yet if there was more than one killer] ambushed police during a late-night shift-change. It was a surprise attack that gave the two state troopers no chance to defend themselves. One of the officers died instantly while the other was seriously injured. The shooter(s) fled after the murder and are yet to be arrested.
Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said the attack Friday night that left one trooper dead and another critically wounded was directed at state police and a "very dangerous, armed criminal" eluded quick capture . . .
What's yet to be established is: was there a motive behind the shooting?

There is no telling on what the motive of the shooting is, it could be anything. The shooter(s) must have known what time the shifts change in order to catch the officers off guard like that. It also could have been someone that the officers had an incident went previously. Hopefully they catch this man/men that done this and justice be done for the deceased officer.

It looks like the shooter was after the two cops and more specifically the one he shot dead. After combing the area looking for the suspect they couldn't find him. Only a person who knew the area well could disappear that fast after committing the crime. I highly doubt the coward will be caught.

I doubt if there was a motive. As sick and twisted as some people are today, they don't need a motive. All they need is some psychiatrist to say they're incapable of standing trial.

If the shooters know when the police officer would change shifts, then they must have been watching or monitoring their actions for quite some time. I wonder if this is a hate crime. Maybe one of them got someone angry? Police officers make enemies in the line of duty.

The police now believe they know who the killer is.
Authorities warned Tuesday that the man believed to be behind the ambush of two Pennsylvania State Police troopers is "armed and dangerous" and may not be finished with targeting law enforcement officials.
The man, Eric Matthew Frein, whom they said was a sharp-shooter had talked about killing police officers and committing mass murder. So he's not only a threat to the police but to the general public as well. What makes matters worse is that they don't know where he is.

That guy should be locked away for good, killing a police office intentionally deserves no sort of clemency what-so-ever.
