Henderson police are investigating after multiple bullets riddled one of their parked, unoccupied patrol cars.

"In today's climate, we take these incidents seriously as officer safety is of utmost importance," said Police Chief Patrick Moers. "We ask our community members to continue to work with us and to be our eyes and ears on the street. If you see something, say something."

The vehicle was shot the night of July 4 while it was parked at an Animal Care and Control Facility. Authorities say the damage to the car was discovered the morning of July 5th.

"The night of the Fourth of July, we think someone took advantage of the fireworks and put six or seven rounds through the windshield of the car," Henderson Police Capt. Eric Denison said. "With everything that has been going on in the last week, it's disturbing," he added.

Capt. Eric Denison said the shooting remains under investigation and will give an update when it's available.
