Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has dedicated a portion of a highway in Harford County to two fallen sheriff's deputies.

Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon, were shot and killed February 10 after an encounter with a gunman. The gunman died in the shootout.

"Dailey and Logsdon served and sacrificed for a purpose far greater than themselves. I can think of no truer definition of a hero," Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said.

Senior Deputy Dailey was with the Sheriff's Office for 30 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran, and an active life member of the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by his fiancee, Aimee Grebe, and his two sons, Bryan and Tyler.

Deputy First Class Logsdon was with the Sheriff's Office for 16 years. He was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, three children, Bethany, Megan, and Darin, and one grandchild.
