Eastland County Sheriff's Office, Texas. Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Hubert Maltby was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

Kenneth Hubert Maltby, 73, who was on duty, was heading west on FM 570 around 8 a.m. when the driver of an eastbound vehicle swerved into the westbound lane and hit Maltby's car head-on.

Deputy Sheriff Maltby was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The other driver suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

"Deputy Sheriff Maltby honorably served the state of Texas as a peace officer and criminal investigator in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Erath County, Comanche County and Eastland County. He was well-respected and admired by all those who served with him," the Comanche Police Department posted on Facebook.
