The nine-year-old girl who was critically injured when an airplane struck her on a Venice beach on Sunday has died, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Her father was killed Sunday. Ommy Irizarry and his daughter Oceana, were struck by a Piper Cherokee plane as they were walking along the beach in Venice on Sunday afternoon.
The pilot had made a call to the towers saying he wasn't going to make it back to their airport so he was forced to make an emergency landing.
The grieving family issued a statement Tuesday morning.
"Our precious Oceana has joined her daddy in heaven. She was nine years old." "Oceana was a beautiful, intelligent and kind-hearted little girl", the statement said.
"She was a natural artist who loved to learn," the family said she was excited to enter the 4th grade. The statement continued, "Ommy, a Sergeant First Class in the Army, was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and soldier."

In the statement the family also thanked everyone for their support. "Thank you to our many loved ones, friends and strangers for your outpouring of love and prayers. Although they are gone, Ommy and Oceana live on through organ donation."
The pilot was identified as Karl Kokomoor, 57, and the lone passenger was David Theen, 60. Neither one was injured in the tragic accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.
