A man who police say tried defending a group of women from catcallers was sent to the hospital early Saturday morning after he was brutally attacked in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square.
The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. when a 39-year-old Texas man was walking when several men drove up inside a Black Nissan and started taunting and catcalling at the women, according to authorities. The victim didn't appreciate the way they were treating the women so he intervened.
“The male victim took offense to something that the guys were saying to the girls and said ‘hey, watch what you’re saying,’†Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs said.
After he confronted the guys, one of them got out of the vehicle and punched the Texas man in the head. He was knocked unconscious after he fell and hit his head on the sidewalk. The suspect got back into the car and they drove off.
"This is a tragic, tragic story. "Here's a guy trying to stick up for these girls and he gets victimized," Captain Fuchs said.
The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he is currently in stable condition.
According to authorities, the suspect's vehicle had Delaware tags. They are looking through surveillance footage to see if they can find the license plate number.

I hope that the police apprehend this nasty man who has no respect for others. He even had the audacity to get out of his vehicle and insult this one of a kind Texan man who dared to stand up for the right thing. I wish him a quick recover, his good deed will be repaid by the generous universe.
