Connecticut - Waterbury police arrested a man they said threw a parrot at a police officer during a chase Tuesday night.
Police said they were responding to a call that two people were fighting. When police arrived they reported the people had stopped fighting and left, but they saw a shirtless man carrying a white bird. The shirtless man was Luis Santana, 32. He allegedly stole the bird from someone’s apartment.
When police told Santana to stop he allegedly threw the bird at the officer. The bird bit the officer’s finger and Santana took off through the woods, police said.
A homeowner was able to lead police to the suspect, who had allegedly walked into an apartment and was hiding in a bathroom.
Santana faces numerous charges with cruelty to animals, assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and second degree burglary.
He is due in court on Nov. 18.
