A man who was shot by Orlando police during a response to a drug complaint Wednesday has died.

A police spokesman did not release the man's name, but confirmed his death this morning.

The deadly officer-involved shooting was the second time in two days that police were forced to open fire on drug suspects. In both instances, cops say the suspects pulled out guns or fired at them first.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, investigators showed up at a home on Arlington Street. When police knocked, one man opened the door and the responding officer saw a gun on a table inside the home, said Sgt. Jim Young, spokesman for the Orlando Police Department.

The officer ordered a second suspect sitting near the firearm to stay away from the gun, Young said, but the man grabbed the weapon and pointed it at police. That's why the officer shot him, Young said.

Seconds later, a third suspect ran from behind the home. When police yelled for him to stop, Young said, the man reached for his waistband and officers, "in fear for their lives," shot him.

Police have not said if that man was armed.

The two injured suspects were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, and their conditions were not available Wednesday night. Three others inside the home — including the man who opened the door — were detained for questioning.

"This is the second night in a row of people pulling guns and officers firing in response," Young said.

On Tuesday night, officers shot 22-year-old Sadiki Allwood after he opened fire during a similar complaint of drug activity, Young said. That shooting, on Cinderlane Parkway near Orange Blossom Trail, took place about five miles from Wednesday's shooting. Young could not say if the police officers were in uniform.

Allwood was treated at ORMC and faces two counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges.

Makabee Seow, 28, Allwood's suspected accomplice, faces charges of resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate both shootings.
