Police are searching for a disgruntled ex-employee from Queens who walked into his former office and opened fire Wednesday, shooting two people killing a former colleague and wounding his old boss.
“The company was occupied by about four employees at the time,†said Nassau County Chief of Department Steven Skrynecki. “He entered one room where the owner CEO and an employee were. He opened fire immediately on those two individuals.â€
The gunman, identified by the police as Sang Ho Kim, fled the scene in a white Honda Pilot and set off a manhunt.
Authorities said the suspect walked into the office building on South Street near the Roosevelt Field Mall shortly after 10 a.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department.
“The motive here appears to be a work related motive,†Skrynecki said. “There’s some disgruntlement between him and the company that he was attacking.†“We have nothing to suggest that this individual is on a random shooting rampage,†he added.
Kim is described as an Asian man standing around 6-foot-2 and was last seen wearing a red shirt and brown suit jacket.
“We believe that this suspect is armed and very dangerous,†Skrynecki said.
The owner is in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center.
