New Mexico Police Officer Jose Chavez, 33, was fatally shot while he was assisting another police officer conducting a traffic stop on August 12, 2016.
Officer Chavez was a two-year veteran of the Hatch force. He leaves behind his parents, siblings and two daughters, 6 and 14-years-old.
