A Texas Police Officer is presumed dead after he was swept away in flash flood. There are over 40 people and a K9 team are scouring the area near Turtle Creek Wednesday.

Officer Mark McCullers was working security at a construction site when a thunderstorm came through the area. He called a dispatcher to say that his vehicle was being submerged by the water.

When search crews found the McCullers's car in the water Tuesday afternoon, the officer wasn't inside.

"Our prayers and thoughts are with the officer's family members and other loved ones as the search continues," Shafer added. "Respecting the sensitivity of family members, first, we will share more information as it becomes available," stated SMU Police Chief Richard Shafer.

Officer Mark McCullers has been a patrol cop at SMU since February 2015. He had previously served for nine years in the Marines.

We will report more when new information comes in.
