Police in Columbus, Ohio, who were responding to a 911 call about shots fired became targets themselves.
Authorities say they received a call about multiple gunshots heard just before midnight on Wednesday. When police arrived to the scene, they spotted several apartments and cars had been struck by gunfire.
While waiting for detectives to arrive, someone opened fire on the officers using a high-caliber firearm around 12:30 a.m., said police officials.
The suspect got away, and police are still searching for him. No injuries have been reported.
