AURORA, Colo. Documents show that police and fire officials failed to communicate with each other. In the Aurora movie theater shootings, it is reported they failed to call in and ask when and where rescuers were needed.
According to the documents, the fire department were not notified until 17 minutes after the shooting had started and that they were needed at the back of the theater.
It made it impossible for the ambulances. They got stuck behind parked vehicles, police cars and over a thousand fleeing moviegoers.
Police had no other options, so they had to transport some of the most critically injured in the back of police vehicles.
James Holmes, the shooter, is being charged with killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 20 shootings. Prosecutors are looking for the death penalty.
