Parents Arrested, Son Tested Positive For Cocaine

A Sylmar couple was arrested Friday on suspicion of selling cocaine in Ventura County. Marco and Sandy Cuevas were arrested by detectives investigating cocaine use and sales in the eastern portion of Ventura County.
“The cocaine was being used and sold by teenagers and young adults,†according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. “Detectives conducted an investigation into Cuevas where they witnessed him selling cocaine to a Ventura County resident. The investigation also revealed that Cuevas was involved in the sale of guns.â€
When law enforcement stopped the Sylmar couple, Marco allegedly had several ounces of cocaine in his possession. They also found a half-pound bag of cocaine in the vehicle in the back seat near the couple’s 5-year-old son. Authorities tested the son, who preliminarily proved positive for having for cocaine in the boy’s system, officials said.
According to investigators, Cuevas’ wife, Sandy, who was also in the vehicle, was in possession of over $10,000 in suspected drug money.

A search warrant was later conducted at Cuevas’ apartment. Investigators discovered more incriminating evidence that included hundreds of pills, several pounds of marijuana, $75,000 in cash, a dozen guns and 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
Marco Cuevas was booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sales, conspiracy to sell cocaine, child endangerment and multiple weapons violations, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Sandy Cuevas was booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sales, conspiracy to sell cocaine and child endangerment.
Marco is being held on $1 million at the Ventura County Jail. His wife posted bail and is awaiting a court date.
