Personality types?

Is there a certain personality type that would make someone get hired on as a police officer if 2 people with the exact same qualifications were to apply? I am curious at how much police departments just look at a person and decide whether or not to hire them just based on their demeanor. You can be trained on how to respond to different situations, but you can't really change who you are as a person.

Well, police academies and departments do carry out psychometric testing on thier applicants, so I imagine that they do have a preferred personality type, although I couldn't say what this is. I don't think it's about demeanor as such, more to do with the way perceive situations and the way they would deal with occurences.
