Louisville Metro police officer Nicholas Rodman was injured in a crash during a pursuit Tuesday night died Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Authorities stated the crash happened as Officer Rodman was joining a pursuit of a suspect allegedly involved in a domestic incident where shots had been fired. Police say that Officer Rodman came in from a different direction and was hit in the intersection.

His car was heavily damaged and also caught fire. Officers freed him from the wreckage and drove him to University Hospital for help.

The driver of the other vehicle was also injured and transported to the hospital. Authorities say he will face a list of charges including murder, domestic violence, assault, fleeing and evading police.

Officer Nicholas Rodman had been with LMPD for three years. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
