PATTON VILLAGE, Texas. A Patton Village police officer and an 11-year-old boy were killed during a police chase Sunday night.
Officials say Sgt. Stacey Baumgartner was pronounced dead upon arrival to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The 11-year-old boy who was riding in the SUV that hit the officer's car, was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped over. Four others were seriously hurt and transported to the hospital where they were all listed in critical condition, officials said.
Sgt. Stacey Baumgartner is survived by wife, who works as a police dispatcher and their two young children.
The suspect, 29-year-old Garrett William Nee has been charged with murder in the officer's death, intoxication manslaughter in both deaths, plus six counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle.
