Authorities say an officer was shot during a traffic stop Friday morning in west St. Louis County. The police officer was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar told the media the officer took "a hard hit" and was hospitalized. He wouldn't release any more details about the confrontation, including the name of the officer or the suspect. He is expected to give a statement later today.
