Waukegan Police in Chicago are the first department in the world to use state of the art body cameras.
The Motorola Si500 body camera will capture everything. Police will be able to use the camera to take still photos of evidence. Also the audio and video can never be erased. All the officers will be required to wear the body camera and activate it for all calls that involves the public.
“We had to do something to establish our credibility and trust in our community and cameras themselves are one of those tools that we can utilize, to help our citizens understand and realize, that we are there, not to hurt them, but to serve them,†said Waukegan Mayor Wayne Motley.
