Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student, Age 15

A physical education teacher and coach faces a string of sexual assault charges after allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old girl in his office just after football practice.
William A. Barber, 38, of Concord, was arrested at his home by Pennsylvania State Police after students at Garnet Valley Middle School reported the rumored sexual relationship between Barber and the teen.
Barber, who teaches and coaches football and baseball is accused of having a sexual encounter with the 15-year-old at the school on Sept. 12, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
It began with text messages and private messages on Twitter. "This past summer they became in contact and started communicating via Twitter," stated Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Gerard McShea. McShea said the girl also sent Barber nude pictures.
An affidavit states that Barber said to the teen, “wow you are a very sexy young ladyâ€. Another message sent on Sept. 11 at 10:42 a.m., stated, “You could have been here but it’s all good. I shouldn’t temp (sic) myself anyway.†A third message, sent at 11:14 a.m., read, “But your body makes me crazy. Ugh.â€
According to the affidavit, the teen met Barber at the middle school around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12, after he finished coaching the football team. The teen and Barber allegedly went to his office and talked about the girl’s mother. They allegedly began to kiss and then went into the back room located in his office where Barber removed her clothing and they had sexual intercourse, according to the affidavit.
The teen told authorities the sexual intercourse was for an abbreviated period of time because she was in a lot of pain due to it being her first time.

Barber who spoke to Trooper Mark Gibble on Sept. 22, reportedly indicated he knew the girl was 15 and acknowledged being with her in his office on Sept. 12, and discussing her mother.
The student provided copies of messages from a Twitter account which she indicated belonged to Barber to the Pennsylvania State Troopers.
Barber is charged with statutory sexual assault, unlawful speak to with a minor, institutional sexual assault, corruption of a minor and indecent assault, court records show. He was arraigned Tuesday and has already been released on a $250,000 bail.
Barber began teaching at the school in 2002. He is married, father of three with a fourth child on the way. His 4-year-old girl is battling brain cancer.
