A “sheltered†16-year-old boy is charged with murder in the deaths of his parents at the family’s Texas home.
Frisco police responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. Monday about gunshots fired in the 12400 block of Shepherds Hill Lane. They arrived at the home and discovered Ryan Callens, 48, and Maria Elena Callens, 49, dead.
"Both suffered gunshot wounds," said Frisco Police Officer Chad LaPrelle.
Authorities say they found the father in the hallway, and the mother was found in her bed with several bullet wounds, including in the head.
Police say other family members were at the house at the time of the shooting, but they weren’t injured.
Authorities are not releasing the suspect’s name because of his age. He was taken into custody at the house. They also declined to release any information about a possible motive, because the case is still under investigation.

The horrific incident has neighbors trying to understand how a quiet, sweet teen could be responsible for the double murders. “It’s still a shock to us,†Edith Benitez. “He was a really good kid.â€
The teen was homeschooled, he was subjected to very strict rules and curfew by both parents.
The parents reportedly monitored what the teen could view on his computer and what movies he was allowed to watch. “His parents were really uptight on him,†said friend William Castillo.
“He was very sheltered,†added friend Jonathon Marcum. “If he broke the guidelines, he got punished.†He is being held at the Collin County Juvenile Justice Center in McKinney on two counts of murder.
