Three law enforcement officers shot in NY

Two U.S. marshals and a New York City police detective were shot Monday as gunfire erupted in the West Village section of New York City.

Mayor Bill de Blasio who was speaking at an unrelated press conference said the law enforcement officers injuries were not life-threatening.

The three law enforcement officers were executing a warrant as part of the fugitive task force.

The suspect, who was believed to be a sex offender was killed at the scene, according to police.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton who was speaking from the scene said a weapon was recovered.
"The suspect who they were seeking to engage, I understand, is deceased and a firearm has been recovered," Commissioner Bill Bratton said. "Minimum details at this time."

All three law enforcement officers were transferred to Bellevue Hospital.

"The officers are all in treatment at this moment at this moment. There's a very active crime scene investigation," Bratton said.

My respect to the police officers, it's not easy to maintain to maintain order and executing a warrant can make this happen. It's a hard work.

The good news is that the injured officers will make a full recovery. The suspect preferred to die than surrender; wrong choice on his part. The police put their lives on the line to ensure that citizen live in a crime free society. No compensation is enough for the hardworking men and women in the police force.
